Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome

Today's photo : Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome : This syndrome is due to endotoxin release from staphylococcus aureus , it usually occurs in under -fives who have not developed protective antibodies against these endotoxins , The child becomes ill with a fever , within 1-2 days fluid filled blisters develop that rupture leaving denuded areas resembling a burn

Management : The child should be admitted to hospital for intravenous antibiotics and skin care , and to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance , if correctly treated the child should be well within a week .
