7-Year-Old Girl Baffles Doctors When She Grows Heart That Literally Beats Outside Her Chest
Nervous people sometimes say it feels like their heart is beating outside their chest, but we all know that’s just an expression. Yet one little girl from Russia is literally living that statement.
In the Inside Edition video below, we learn about little Virsaviya Borun, a 7-year-old girl born with a condition called pentalogy of Cantrell. This rare condition, which affects only 5.5 people out of every million, prevents the rib cage from fully growing. This means that the heart is protected only by skin.
The hosts of The Doctors even confirmedthat the little girl additionally has defects with her lower sternum, abdominal wall, and diaphragm.
Dari, Virsaviya’s mom, told Inside Edition that 90% of babies born with the condition end up dying. Experts even assured her that her daughter would never walk or talk.
Yet, Virsaviya now manages to live a happy life.
After leaving Russia for the warmer climate of Florida, the little girl joined her school’s dance team, and she even loves to sing despite not having a diaphragm.
